Summer Program

The Summer Program provides fun and learning for children from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Children will develop skills such as collaboration, responsibility, problem-solving, creativity, citizenship and leadership through interesting activities and experiences. The summer program is delivered by NHCS Registered Early Childhood Educators and Assistant Educators.

The summer program is available at York River Public School, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. 

Cost per day:

44 months or older but younger than 73 months - $17.48 (CWELCC rate)

73 months or older but younger than 13 years - $37

Subsidies available for those who qualify.

Our summer program features a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, so dress appropriately for the weather and bring sunscreen!

Children will participate in fun, age-appropriate activities including: 

  • Physical activity (co-operative games, sports)

  • Arts (drama, music, visual arts)

  • Quiet activities (language, literacy)

  • Construction and design

  • Nature and science

Two nutritious snacks will be provided along with lunch.

All children must bring their own refillable water bottle.

The Summer program is based on learning through play and follows the Ministry of Education pedagogy How Does Learning Happen? 

Our Summer program helps children strengthen their minds and bodies in a safe environment. Program Educators will work with the children to develop program plans and activities based around their interests.
