Emotions and expressions are a big part of the Junior Room. The children are learning to recognize their own emotions and peers. They are learning to self-regulate and self-reflect, all while building responsive relationships with others. The staff have been fostering these new feelings with optimal discussions, items related to emotions and incorporating skills such as problem solving, social skills, expression of feelings, self regulation, empathy, sense of self and identity formation. With the opportunity to explore further using loose part to make a variety of faces, sensory balloons, books, mirrors and a self portrait station.
